AFFIRMATION
An affirmation is a motivational statement to yourself. Usually it is a statement about a way you act or feel that you want to change.
It is usually a short meaningful
statement. Affirmations are powerful and positive statements about what you will do to
change your life for the better.
Be specific! The more specific your statement is the
easier it will be to obey it. When you make your own statement, dont use the word
"no" in it. Your mind might listen to "no" and be negative. When what
you want is a real positive statement that you cant forget!
For example, a negative affirmation would look like
this, "I am not going to yell at my brother". Its negative because it has
the word "no" in it. You might try "I am going to stay calm when I talk to
my brother". There is nothing negative about that!
Have some feeling! When you say your affirmation,
make sure to say it with meaning. If you just say the word and dont mean it, it is
much more likely to not work.
Try saying your affirmation just before you go to bed
or right when you wake up. Whenever you think of it during the day, it will help you to
achieve your goal.
